Hotels-Costa Rica. Where are you going to stay? What do
you want to do? How much do you want to spend? What amenities are
important to you? All of these are important questions when finding
the perfect hotel.
Finding a hotel in Costa Rica can be a daunting experience. Let
us help make it a little less frightening. Fortunately, Costa Rican
hotels are in abundant supply. So lets look at the first question.
Where are you going to stay—inland are on the
beach? Pacific or
Atlantic? Northern or Southern Region of the country? Hotels are a
popular choice along the beach because they are all inclusive. Beach
hotels allow you the option of ocean or inland view. The Caribbean
side of the country boasts hotels with a little more intimate feel
geared towards the nature/adventure tourist. Hotels along the
Northern Plains feature rooms with spectacular views of the volcano,
enchanted rain forests, and crystal blue lakes.
What do you want to do? Again, activities will depend on your
hotel's location.
Northern Caribbean hotels appeal to the nature and adventure
tourist. You can enjoy activities such as sport fishing, hiking,
boat tours, river kayaking and wildlife observation. By staying at
Southern Caribbean hotels you can add horseback riding, dolphin
viewing, surfing, and diving to your list of attractions.
Interacting with the local culture is a great pastime in both the
Northern and Southern region of the Caribbean. Enjoy hiking,
recreational cycling, art galleries, photography, shopping,
historical sites and tours of the local sugar mills in the Central
Valley. When you visit the Plains of the North you can add
spelunking, bridge hanging, treetop adventures, and visits to the
area volcano and nature reservoir. Moving over to the Pacific side
of the country, hotels offer packages for sports fishing, swamp
tours, and national park tours.
Now, how much do you want to spend? Sometimes this is a very
important question when choosing a hotel. Prices will vary from area
to area. Four and five star hotels can start at $60.00 and move all
the way up to $335.00 for the best of the best. On average the rate
runs about $110.00 per night USD. Two and three star hotels start at
around $40.00 and average about $55.00 per night USD. Even hotels
that rate one star or no rating can have accommodations to meet your
needs and for the price they can be worth every penny. These hotels
average $35.00 per night USD.
Last but not least, amenities. What can you NOT live without and
what would you enjoy experiencing during your stay. Some top choices
include Internet access, hot water, ceiling fans or air
conditioning, phone, swimming pools, private bath and transportation
to/from the airport. Some of the high star hotels also include room
service, laundry facilities, safe deposit boxes, cable T.V., and
kitchenette.
The 16.39% Government tax and Tourism tax is not included in the
rates.
